Letter from Fred Finkelstein
It is finally happening! The project that Ive waited twenty-five years to undertake is finally underway. My Skins On Fire - Living With Psoriasis began production in February, 2004 and is in full swing. Here in the San Francisco Bay Area we have been interviewing those of us who have been living with the discomfort and challenge of psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis. The stories we have been gathering are compelling and truthful, largely because people have a need to bring this illness out of the closet and talk openly and honestly about its impact on their lives. The ideas that formed the basis for this film were eventually turned into a grant proposal. That original proposal was accepted by the Bay Area Video Coalition, the oldest and most venerable film and video production facility in San Francisco. Under the terms of our agreement, BAVC is serving as our fiscal sponsor. This means, effectively, that we are functioning as a non-profit organization and that all contributions to the project are tax-deductible. As you can imagine, no project of this magnitude can move forward without financial support. It is within this framework, therefore, that I now turn to all of you and ask for your contributions to this important and worthwhile effort to chronicle the lives of a handful of courageous individuals who have been living with psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis, in some cases for an entire lifetime. Please take a few minutes to write us a check and help support the efforts of our team to bring you the highest quality production that we are able to create! Should you choose
to participate in the project, please make your check payable to: The
Bay Area Video Coalition Please know that our sincerest efforts are being directed at creating a document that will express the realities of living with psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis. Whatever you are able to contribute is greatly appreciated. Sincerely,![]() Fred Finkelstein Producer/Director |
